Heartland Fiesta

For both locals and tourists alike, the month of June harkens a period of great bargains, sore feet and slimmer wallets. For many years, the Great Singapore Sale(GSS) has attracted thousands of shoppers to fabled Orchard road, where all major brands and consumer goods can be found. It was however unfortunate that visitors only experience a part of Singapore, missing out on our Heartlands, its offerings and a slice of Singalife!

5 neighbourhood centres (NC) will be getting together to launch this event named "Heartland Fiesta". These 5 NCs are

• Hong Kah Point
• People's Park
• Serangoon North Village
• Tampines Street 11
• Toa Payoh Central

The Heartland Fiesta includes "Family Day", "Heartland Race" and 2 other events unique to each town. In "Family Day", expect a fun filled day full of color, giveaways, games and prizes. The "Heartland Race" will task contestants to navigate their way through their respective neighborhood centers, completing various tasks meant to test both brains and brawn. Other activities include children's games, performances, magic shows, giveaways and game booths.

And being a highly local affair, rest assured that all towns will have the best and most famous hawker food on showcase!

Running right through June, retail and service establishments in participating towns will be offering irresistible offers and discounts to entice shoppers. With the current global recession ongoing, it is expected that consumers will be more budget conscious and will seek more means to stretch their dollar.

So come this June, make a trip down to any of the 5 neighborhood centers for a truly unique Singaporean fiesta of fun, food games and joy!
